Farris Lawrence Sibley

 

March 24th 1940 To January 2nd 2008

 

Farris Lawrence Sibley, 67, of Belleville passed away on January 2nd, 2008 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.  He was born on March 24th, 1940 in Homer, Michigan, a son of Fred and Francis (Wagner) Sibley. On February 2nd, 1973, he was married to Gladys Baker. 

Farris’s greatest joy in life was his family.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He loved talking on his CB Radio, going by the handle “Big Moose”, enjoyed watching wrestling, was an excellent marksman and loved owning big cars.  Mr. Sibley was a member of the Detroit Police Reserves from 1988 to 1992 and was a proud member of the U.S. Army who served in Germany.  Later he became a repo man who truly enjoyed his work.  Farris was a very strong willed person and a fighter during his illness. 

Mr. Sibley is survived by his loving wife, Gladys, cherished father of Dennis Sibley of Grand Rapids, Kimberly (Marc) Maitles of Virginia, Penny (Dean) Ambrozak of West Virginia, Christina (Janet) Sibley-Elkins of Belleville and Lawrence Sibley of Indiana.  Adored grandfather of Earl, Nicole, Jessica, Megan, Cory, Mark, Zachary, Christopher and Mikeal.  Also survived by many loving relatives and friends. 

Farris was preceded in death by his two daughters, Colleen and Elizabeth, his parents, his brother Floyd and his grandparents. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 7th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, January 8th, from Noon to 8 p.m. at the Higgerson & Neal Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Belleville

734-697-9400. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 9th, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dale Kleimola officiating.  Interment will follow at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia. 

Memorial contributions in Mr. Sibley’s name are suggested to the wishes of his family.
